The Challenge
In 2020, Volition Beauty approached my team with their very unique business plan. Their company co-creates products with consumers through a submission process & then has other customers vote if they would like Volition to create the product. As a project manager on the team, my purpose was to be liaison between the client and my other team members.
Volition tasked us to try the co-creation process with our consultants and give them feedback on the experience
We also tested various media channels to see which were most productive for Volition to use to market these campaigns
The Process
Survey Data
My team conducted a survey and we did not segment it since the client to do not have a specific category in mind
A significant amount of data did not back up their business model, however Volition wanted to create a new category of skin care
Analysis
Analyzed the survey data and used feedback from the consultants on our team to access the success of Volition’s business model
Recommendations
We noticed a disconnect between the voters & buyers - just because they voted, does not guarantee they will buy
Need for a brand voice - we recommended Reddit
Instead of creating a whole product submit an ingredient as the process was difficult for our consultants to progress through

The Results
Volition Beauty’s business model was different from any project I had ever been on and, therefore, creativity was a huge driver in making this project successful. The submission process was daunting for the consultants on my team, which is why we recommended more transparency between the company and the consumer. My team suggested using Reddit to give Volition a voice because their entire business model is community-driven, so connecting with this community will become extremely important in the future success of the company.
